The use of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) in textile materials is now restricted

Regulation-2016-26With Regulation 2016/26, a new restriction has been introduced for the use of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs). When used in textile articles, NPEs must be in a concentration lower that 0,01% by weight of that article or of each part of it.

This restriction has been added because NPEs tend to be washed away when washing and rinsing textiles, meaning that NPEs are released in the environment.
