TDC runs as a Windows service, i.e. without user interface. The document generation is triggered by request files in XML format or Excel format sent by the ERP system to a folder permanently monitored by TDC.

This file must contain:
  • Shipment information about mode of transport, consignor, consignee, carrier etc.
  • Information on the single shipment positions: quantity, hazard inducing substance(s), marine pollutant status, flashpoint etc. if necessary.

Document types

Currently the following document types can be generated in the output folder:

  • ADR transport document
  • IMO declaration
  • IATA declaration
  • Multi modal transport document

IMO and IATA declaration are created by default in English. Road transport documents are generated in various languages (also bilingually). A CMR document can be implemented as well.

In principle the process runs fully automatic. In case of exceptions, e.g. because of missing information in a request file the errors may be logged and marked on the output file.

TDC comes with an Access database containing consistent records of data for all dangerous goods according to the respective tables of ADR, IMDG and IATA, for example UN Number, packing group, limited quantity, special provision etc. For the actual document creation a run-time version of a report generator like Crystal Reports, List & Label etc. must be installed on the system. Full versions are required only if the user wants to modify the document layouts.

The Access database mentioned above is of course kept up-to-date with the revisions of the relevant regulations.
