Three new substances subject to public consultation

applications-for-authorisationA public consultation has been opened by the ECHA for three substances regarding their uses. A total of 27 applications for authorisation have been presented, covering these uses. ECHA invites the concerned parties to provide comments on this matter.

The substances subject to this public consultation are as follows:

  • Chromium VI compounds used in surface treatment, hard and functional chrome plating, cooling systems, passivation of tin plates, production of copper foils, production of coloured stainless steel, and manufacture of sodium chlorate/chlorite.
  • 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) used as solvent in the production of a polymer
  • Diglyme used as solvent in the manufacture of an active pharmaceutical ingredient

Public consultations usually last around 45 days and in this case the consultation has been started on February 10th 2016, and will close on the 6th of April 2016.
