Which substance has been added to the Candidate List?
On request of the European Commission, a Member State or the ECHA may propose the classification of a substance as substance of very high concern (SVHC). If such classification occurs, the aforementioned substance will be added to the candidate list for its eventual inclusion in Annex XIV.
The inclusion of a substance in the candidate list generates legal obligations for companies producing, importing or using such substance as is, in preparations, or in items.
On the 20th of June 2015, one SVHC substance has been added to the Candidate List by the ECHA
The SVHC substance that has been added to the candidate list and its relative reasons of inclusion are:
• Benzo[def]chrysene (Benzo[a]pyrene) (EC: 200-028-5, CAS: 50-32-8) - Carcinogenic (article 57a), Mutagenic (Article 57b), Toxic for reproduction (Article 57c), PBT (Article 57d), vPvB (Article 57e). May occur as a constituent or impurity in other substances.
