Taiwan Revises Regulation of Food Allergen Labeling

On Aug 21, 2018, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) issued an announcement on promulgation of revised “Regulation of Food Allergen Labeling,” which will take effect on July 1, 2020. Compared to the previous version of “Regulation of Food Allergen Labeling,” the allergens have increased from 6 allergens to 11 allergens.

Health Canada’s PMRA Publishes New Limits for Four Pesticides in the MRL Database

On August 16, 22 and 26, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) released four new amendments for the List of Pesticides such as Pyrimethanil (PMRL2018-10), Abamectin (PMRL2018-11), Pydiflumetofen (PMRL2018-15) and Fludioxonil (PMRL2018-16) in the Maximum Residue Limit database for some food categories.

EU Amends Pesticide Regulation 396/2005

France Aims To Ban Titanium Dioxide As A Food Additive

In an amendment to the farm and food bill, France aims to ban Titanium dioxide (TiO2) in foods. After a study conducted by INRA (French Agricultural Research Institute) where rats were fed TiO2 nanoparticles and it was revealed that it caused damage to the colon.
