On July 14, 2016, the Ministry of Agro-Industry of Argentina has released the Resolution SENASA 374/2016 (in Spanish): a new regulation approving the production system, commercialization, control and certification of organic products.

On July 14, 2016, Taiwan FDA published an amendment to “Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods”, changing MRLs for 59 pesticides in 376 food categories. In addition, the list of food categories has been amended, by adding jackfruit to large berries category. These changes took effect immediately.
Of June 29, 2016, Russian Federation issued a new Federal Law N358 prohibiting breeding and cultivation of genetically modified crops and animals. As specified, this law is based on results of monitoring of the impact of genetically modified organisms on human and environmental well-being. The new law is also introducing stricter rules for import of genetically modified (GM) food and feed products into Russia.

Peru will no longer follow the CODEX regulation CAC/MRL2 and its amendments for the veterinary drugs MRL’s. Peruvian Ministry of Health (MINSA) has released the Ministerial Resolution 372-2016/MINSA, published on June 7, 2016 in the Official Journal “El Peruano”, approving the NTS No. 120-MINSA/DIGESA. This technical standard lays down the MRL’s for veterinary drugs in food for human consumption. It is mandatory at national level for all natural and legal persons associated with production, primary processing and industrial manufacturing of foodstuffs of animal origin intended to be consumed by humans.
