On October 9, 2015, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) called for submissions on food safety microbiological criteria for infant formula.
FSANZ Chief Executive Officer Steve McCutcheon said FSANZ had reviewed the microbiological limits in Standard 1.6.1 for powdered infant formula and the associated Schedule of the revised Food Standards Code.
"The limits in the Code were set before 2000 and have not been reviewed since then," Mr McCutcheon said. "Proposal P1039 was prepared to align microbiological criteria for infant formula products with international standards, current scientific knowledge and the transition to outcomes-based risk management processes."
All submissions can be submitted online before November 20, 2015.
