On November 10, 2019, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of China has announced the release of “The Health Food Naming Guide“ (2019 Edition).

The scope of the document is to “regulate the naming of health food registration and filing products to avoid mileading consumption“.

Among others, the guide defines the following:

  • The composition of the name of the health food;
  • The basic principle of naming the health food;
  • The forbidden content included in the name of health food;
