Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has published Draft changes to the Technical Regulation TR CU 033/2013 “On milk and dairy products” . This draft has been open for public consultation since February and the public consultation period ends May 10, 2017.

Changes in the draft mainly refer to definitions and labeling requirements for various dairy products, with or without fat substitutes. It also changes microbiological requirements and sets new limits for some contaminants, as cadmium, mercury and pesticides (DDT, hexachlorocyclohexan) for a wide range of dairy products.

Changes suggested are considered to be triggered by public health and food safety concerns, which has not been the focus of the original Technical Regulation on Dairy Products published in October 2013.

Russian Federation, as a representative member of the EEU, has notified the World Trade Organization about the draft amendment, on 1st March, 2017.
