On May 30, 2019, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare - MHLW (厚生労働省) of Japan has published two partial amendments affecting multiple substances used in foods:
- “Partial Amendment of Specifications And Standards for Foods, Food additives, etc. (MHLW No. 18 of 2019)“, that includes new reference values for the pesticides simeconazole, thifluzamide, triflumizole, piriofenon, metaflumizone and others.
- “Partial Amendment of Specifications And Standards for Foods, Food additives, etc. And Partial Amendment Of Substances Designated By The Minister Of Health, Labour And Welfare As Substances That Are Unlikely To Harm Human Health Etc. In Accordance With The Regulations Stipulated By Article 11(3) Of The Food Sanitation Act (MHLW No. 0530 No. 1 of 2019)“
The document involves changes in limits for the substances thymol, simeconazole, tebufenpyrad, triflumizole, pyriofenone, fluazifop-butyl, fluensulfone, metaflumizone and glucan extracted from brewing yeast and used in multiple food commodities.
Residual reference values are applicable from the date of the notice, May 30, 2019.
