selerant-Mexico Amends Annexes to Food Additives Regulation

In February 2019, the Health Secretary updated two Annexes of the “Amendment of Agreement that determines additives and adjuvants in food, beverages and food supplements.“

With the amendment to Annex VI on Enzymes, the use of lipase, lisofosfolipase, amylase coming from new sources is extended to specific food categories and permitted under recommended maximum levels.

The Amendment to Annex X on Processing Aids changes Substance 11 from “Aspartic acid“ into “Aspartic acid and its sodium salt (monosodium aspartate)“ as permitted. Other processing aids remain unchanged.

The amendments to Annex VI and X are effective from February 5, 2019 and February 12, 2019 respectively.
