FDA Health Food Labeling Taiwan.jpg

On Dec. 29, 2017, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released a regulation governing “Items shall be labeled in Health Food." This new regulation went into effect on Jan. 1, 2018.

The key provisions are,

  1. Health food in capsule and tablet form: it shall have clear label phrases like “This product is non-pharmaceutical, for health use, patients still need medical treatment” and “Take it according to the proposed intake, do not overdose.”
  2. Health food not in capsule and tablet form: it shall have clear label phrases like “This product is for health use, take it according to the proposed intake”

The purpose of this regulation is to provide consumers with clear information and avoid misunderstandings like "heath effect is medical treatment," and "the more health food you eat, the better."
