Taiwan Latest Amendment to Food Additive Regulation

On August 18, 2021, the Food and Drug Administration of Taiwan published the amendment “Standards for specification, scope, application and limitation of food additives” on Appendix 1 of Article 2.

The document highlights the following key points:

  • Categories such as Antioxidants, leavening agents, nutritional additives, colors, flavoring agents, carriers etc. are amended.
  • The term “All foods” in the given categories does not include fresh milk and sterilized milk.
  • Maximum levels of flavouring agents naturally presented in beverages shall not exceed the permissible limits as indicated in the table.

The regulation is effective from August 18, 2021.
